Contemporary
impressionism is the best way to describe the paintings of Nancy Paton.
A third generation
Texas painter, Nancy’s bold and energetic colors seem to leap off the
canvas. She has a passion for capturing the amazing colors of nature.
Guided by a mother and grandmother who are both lifetime painters, Nancy
started her artistic life with childhood lessons from renowned local
artist, Simon Michael of Rockport. A 17 year career as a chemical
engineer did not diminish her passion for art. A lifetime student, she
has taken instruction in a variety of arts and artistic mediums. In the
last several years, she has returned to her first love, which is
painting.
While her early artistic passion was high realism, Nancy is currently
more interested in the looser form of contemporary impressionism. She
looks for the sometime subtle colors in nature and enjoys bringing them
to light on her canvas. The experimentation with color and form are
always exhilarating as Nancy lets the colors and flow guide the creation
of each new work.
Nancy works at her
shared studio in Dripping Springs. She paints regularly with the
prolific Bunkhouse Gang in Cypress Mill and with her studio
partners.
