Jacquelyn
Lancaster and her husband, Larry, both grew up in Helotes and have
lived in the Hill Country all their lives. Jackie loves the
outdoors, the wildlife, all kinds of art and anything shiny. She
has collected skulls and bones and rocks and gems since she can
remember. Jackie made necklaces, earrings and bracelets from parts
of these things and incorporated crystals to make them shiny. She
started selling jewelry after people were offering to buy them while
she was wearing them.
About 6
years ago Jackie and her husband moved to their ranch in Sisterdale.
Her first day of exploring, she found a large
turtle shell and her dog brought up a small deer skull. Jackie
decided to combine bones and beads in a most unique way. Since
then she has made about 20 pieces. Each piece takes at least
two to four months to complete. Each tiny bead is put in place
with tweezers. The glue is a special mix that is easy to
work with and dries clear and hard.
Most
of the skulls are native Texas wildlife. Jackie buys some,
some she finds and some are given to her by friends. She has
also done custom pieces.
Jackie
feels fortunate to be able to travel and enjoy her passion in art.
As she travels, she is constantly looking for unusual pieces to
use. She uses beads, gems and stones that she has collected from
all over the US plus, down through Central and South
America. Each
piece is created with love and passion for just the right owner!
