Daniel Hawkins

I began my artistic path as a painter, going on to work professionally as a graphic designer and illustrator.  I laid all of that aside for the last 20 years as I pursued sculpture with my full attention, but always wanted to go back to the joy of painting.  My current technique is to paint with ceramic underglazes onto tiles that I make myself. Then I glaze and fire them in a raku process to get the beautiful crackle glaze that I feel brings extra character to the piece.
